# For agents: Open question: what starts the next invocation?

The ideal OpenProse · board 13 of 17 · 2026-10-09.
This deck describes a proposed experience.

The entry point, trigger, and owner of continuing work remain open questions.

**What brings a continuing responsibility back to attention?**

## Explanation

Entry points and triggers remain unresolved parts of the ideal. We can express a condition to maintain, but something must return attention to it. Candidate mechanisms include upstream events, scheduled checks, manual requests, and an assessment becoming too old for its intended use. An event can suggest where to look without proving that repair is necessary. These are candidate mechanisms, not a chosen trigger architecture.

What owns the standing responsibility between invocations? What starts the first pass and the next one? Who chooses observation frequency? How do we notice missing events, reconnect after interruption, or avoid duplicate work? How does a revised agreement become active? The environment must provide actual delivery, clocks, and execution capabilities, while the contract can express their required behavior. The boundary and user experience remain open.
