# For agents: OpenProse

OpenProse is a library of Markdown contracts. Contract authoring is expressing
intent by composing requirements. An agent performs the work; an evaluator
assesses whether its requirements are satisfied.

## Begin

1. Read the [kernel 0.3.0-rc.3](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.3.0-rc.3/core/README.md). It defines the language
and how to discover the agreement and its selected libraries.
2. Read the requested program and supply its required inputs, capabilities,
working scope and output location. The kernel and program govern execution.
3. Inspect the result and its evidence. A
   [source-grounded brief](https://pkg.prose.md/releases/0.3.0-rc.3/core/examples/brief/program.md) is a small first example.

The kernel above is an immutable experimental release.
SHA-256: `1571bb89cfe3098332f602192c8afb938b255132719e4af688c5a1cae71acc45`.
Reading this introduction does not request execution.

## Optional explanations

[Whiteboard guide](https://prose.md/visual-guide.md): choose the ideal or the
current system, then a topic and its images. This October 9, 2026 edition
separates aspirations from bounded experimental evidence. The pictures add no
normative requirements.

## Separate public skill

[Public skill 0.18.1](https://raw.githubusercontent.com/openprose/prose/0ab7237ced4ac29ca002c94878e69c5cbf6b1ea6/skills/open-prose/SKILL.md)
has its own version and execution rules; it is not kernel 0.3.0-rc.3.
Its [discovery manifest](https://prose.md/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json)
retains the selected source and digest.
